Collects a longform piece of nature writing by Wendell Berry along with 48 black and white plates by Ralph Eugene Meatyard. Both in photo as in writing, the Red River Gorge is observed over a period of one year, through the four seasons. “In 1967 a large portion of this unique area was destined to be drowned under the waters of a manmade lake.
